Step 3: In case there is any mismatch between the PAN and Aadhar number, you will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on the number registered with Aadhar.

Notably, it is not mandatory for the citizens of the state of Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and Meghalaya to link PAN card with Aadhar. Also, non-resident, individuals above 80 years of age, and the individual who are not the citizen of India are also not mandated to link PAN with Aadhar.

Step 1: Visit the homepage of the income tax e-filing website.
Step 2: Click on the Link Aadhar option.
Step 3: Enter Aadhar number, PAN, name on the Aadhar, and Captcha code.
Step 4: Click on Link Aadhar green button.
Notably, 11.44 lakh PAN cards were closed or put in the inactive category by the government. You may also face the same situation if you also do not link your PAN with Aadhar after the 31st March deadline.
