Bitana Devi: Story Of 5th Pass Woman Who Was Honoured By President For Her Successful Business

Got Married at the Age of 15 Years

Bitana’s parents got her married at the age of 15 to Harinam, a teacher in a government school. She lives in Meerak Nagar in Mohanlalganj of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In the year 1982, when she delivered her first baby, her parents gifted her a cattle as a gift. Once her husband’s friend visited them and upon seeing a cattle, he suggested them to buy a buffalo as well and start a dairy business. They all liked the idea.

Started Dairy Business with Just 2 Cows

Bitana Devi’s success story with limited resources is very inspirational. She started a dairy business 28 years ago with just 2 cows.

Daily Production of 188 Litres of milk

As Bitana’s husband works as a teacher in a government school in Rae Bareli district, she had to work all alone. She worked really hard and produced a total of 56,567 liters of milk in the year 2014-2015. On an average, she produces a total of 188 liters of milk every day.

Yearly Earning

Bitana currently has 24 cows and 10 buffaloes. She produces more than 56 thousand liters of milk every year and her annual income is INR 15-20 lakhs.

Honored by President Ramnath Kovind

Bitana Devi has been facilitated 10 times with the Gokul Award, an award given by UP government to the people who make a noteworthy contribution to the production of milk in the state. She was also facilitated by the President of the country, Ramnath Kovind, on February 14, 2018, in a program organized in Chandra Shekhar Azad University.
