Indian sellers on the Amazon India platform will be able to sell their products in the UAE and other markets of West Asia. Amazon had acquired souq.com, the largest e-commerce retailer in the Arab World, in 2017 by paying 58 crore dollars in cash. After its acquisition, Amazon changed the filings.Souq.com to Amazon.ae Now the Indian sellers on Amazon India can sell their products on amazon.ae as well.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Co-founder and CEO of Souq.com, said in an interview, “we already have a large customer base in Souq which is now registered on Amazon UAE. Amazon has made two fulfilment centers in the UAE as a part of their expansion plan.” He also said that the sales of products such as jewellery, apparel, beauty, and grocery products can increase significantly in the UAE after this.

Amazon India country head Amit Agarwal last month said that the total sales is estimated to be worth 5 billion dollars through the company’s global selling program. Currently, sales of worth 1 billion dollars has been achieved.

Gopal Pillai, Vice President, Seller Services, Amazon India, said “UAE is a big opportunity for Indian sellers and brands. There is a lot of demand in the UAE from both Indian as well as UAE customers.”

With the help of the program, the company wanted to add Indian SMEs to the platform.
