The Reserve Bank of India has warned all online banking users against a mobile App that can fraud them with money. If a mobile application called Any Desk is installed on your phone, there are chances that somebody is spying on your bank account details. And he can steal money from your account at any time.

This application first works towards stealing all your banking details. It then saves the details and uses it to rob money from your bank account.

RBI is warning online banking users against it. This Fraudulent application, Any Desk, works like a remote access service. It takes control of the device and does all banking transactions on behalf of the user. It is reported that this App can detect all the OTPs sent. This means the money will be stolen within minutes.

The RBI alert message says that all online banking users are at risk. However, UPI users are more vulnerable to it. A bank alert message states that the App is being used by hackers. The modus operandi of the fraudulent App includes the use of Unified Payment Interface (UPI).

The user is first asked to download the App. The request can come via various social media platforms or the Google Play Store platform. Once the App is downloaded, it will generate a nine-digit code on the device which will be used by the hacker to access data present on the mobile phone, including SMS service. This way, hackers can hack mobile banking and other payment Apps installed on the mobile phone.

RBI advisory quotes, “after the App is installed and the 9-digit code is inserted, the App will ask the victim to grant certain permissions to the App which are similar to what is asked when some other App is being used.”

The best and ideal way to stay safe from it is by not downloading Any Desk App in the first place. And if you already have the App on your mobile phone, you are suggested to uninstall it and scan the device immediately.

The SBI (State Bank of India) has also issued some guidelines to stay away from such frauds, keeping in view that certain banking frauds are happening frequently. The bank suggests to never share a card and its details with anyone. It also suggests to enter ATM pins securely when in public and not disclose it with anyone even at home. Also, never forget debit/credit card at ATM.
